A workplace accident occurred at Chiquita Canyon Landfill in Castaic, Los Angeles County, on Sunday morning, September 8, 2024.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, emergency crews responded to a call for service at 29201 Henry Mayo Drive.

The incident involved a tanker truck carrying leachate that overturned, trapping the driver underneath.

The driver, who sustained injuries, was extricated and transported to Henry Mayo Hospital, but the severity of the injuries was not immediately available.

Approximately 20 gallons of leachate were released, but no waterways were affected.
