[09-06-2026] San Diego County, CA – One Killed, Another Seriously Injured in Head-On Crash Near Crest

One driver was killed, and another suffered major injuries in a head-on crash near Crest in San Diego County early Sunday morning, September 6, 2026.

According to San Miguel Fire & Rescue, the collision occurred around 12:35 a.m. on La Cresta Road near the community of Crest.

Authorities said a white Chevrolet pickup was traveling downhill while a red Honda sedan was traveling uphill when the vehicles collided head-on.

The Honda driver, a man, became trapped inside his vehicle and died at the scene. Authorities have not yet released his identity.

The pickup driver, also a man, was able to exit his vehicle before emergency crews arrived. He was transported to a hospital with major traumatic injuries.

The CHP continues to investigate the exact cause of the fatal crash.
