[09-06-2026] Riverside County, CA – One Killed, Two Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on 91 Freeway

One man was killed, and two other drivers sustained injuries in a wrong-way crash in Riverside on Sunday morning, September 6, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 9:30 a.m. on the Riverside (91) Freeway.

Witnesses reported a brown Ford Flex traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of the freeway. 

Authorities stated that the Ford collided head-on with a Honda Civic, sending the Honda into the center divider. The Ford continued into another lane and then collided head-on with a Toyota Corolla.

The Ford driver was transported to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The Riverside County Coroner’s Office identified him as Daniel R. Jr., 59, of Moreno Valley.

The drivers of the Honda and Toyota were also transported to hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to major.

CHP said whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the collision remains under investigation.
