An 88-year-old man was killed, and two others were injured following a two-vehicle crash at an intersection in Riverside on Tuesday evening, September 5, 2023.
Riverside Police Department officers were dispatched on reports of a collision at about 6:25 p.m. along West La Cadena Drive, south of Toulouse Avenue.
Initial investigation by authorities revealed that the victim, identified as 88-year-old David S. of Riverside, was fatally injured when the sedan he was riding collided with a van at the intersection.
Paramedics arrived ten minutes after the incident and pronounced David S. dead on the scene. The sedan and van drivers sustained serious injuries after the crash and were immediately rushed to the hospital.
The crash’s cause and factors were not specified, and no further statements were given regarding the incident.
The department’s Major Accident Investigation team is in charge of the investigation, which is currently ongoing.
