[09-05-2023] Couple Killed, Four More Injured Following Reckless Two-Vehicle Collision in West ComptonA couple was killed, and four more were injured following a reckless two-vehicle collision in West Compton early Tuesday morning, September 5, 2023.

According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the fatal collision happened around 12:30 a.m. between Avalon Boulevard and Compton Boulevard.

Two vehicles were racing against each other at around 80 mph when one of the vehicles slammed into a firetruck.

Both the driver and passenger, a man and a woman in their 30s, were killed. Four crewmembers of the firetruck sustained non-critical injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital.

CHP said street racing was a factor, but investigations are still ongoing. They are also searching for the other vehicle, a blue Honda Civic, which fled the scene.
