[09-05-2023] ATV vs. Vehicle Collision Kills Unidentified Rider in OakleyAn unidentified rider was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Oakley on Tuesday morning, September 5, 2023.

According to the Oakley Police Department and Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, the authorities responded to the incident around 7:00 a.m. on the 5200 Neroly Road near Elm.

The vehicle collided with an ATV rider, which plunged and left the victim motionless into a vineyard. It was unclear to the vehicle’s driver whether the person was still alive since the suspect could not see the victim.

All additional resources were canceled after the rider was located and confirmed dead at the scene. There were no other details released about the crash. People are advised to use alternative routes due to the closure of Neroly Road at Elm for an unknown period.

The police are investigating but have not determined whether speeding or distracted driving contributed to the collision yet.
