[09-04-2026] Orange County, CA – 72-Year-Old Bicyclist Killed in Vehicle Crash in Santa Ana

A 72-year-old bicyclist was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Santa Ana on Friday evening, September 4, 2026.

According to the Santa Ana Police Department, officers working near McFadden Avenue and Fairview Street witnessed the collision shortly before 7:00 p.m.

Police said the bicyclist was beginning to travel westbound on McFadden Avenue from Fairview Street when a vehicle traveling in the same direction struck him from behind.

The collision knocked the bicyclist from his bicycle, leaving him with significant injuries. Officers immediately provided life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Police said the driver did not appear to be impaired.

The investigation is ongoing.
