[09-04-2023] Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Caltrain in Redwood CityA pedestrian was killed after being struck by a Caltrain in Redwood City on Monday evening, September 4, 2023.

According to the Redwood City Police Department, the incident was reported around 8:54 p.m. on 1 James Avenue at Redwood City Station.

Authorities stated that a train approaching the station from the south struck the pedestrian. The impact of the crash killed the victim. While emergency personnel responded, the train’s 166 passengers were evacuated.

There were no other injuries reported. Officials said the events leading up to the crash remain unclear.

Investigations into the crash are ongoing.

It is the 10th Caltrain collision death in 2023. The ninth occurred late last month when a train struck a pedestrian in Belmont.
