A 66-year-old man was killed after a hit-and-run crash in Madera on Monday evening, September 4, 2023.
The California Highway Patrol responded to the crash that occured on Avenue 15 west of Tozer St. when an off-duty Madera County Deputy found the injured victim lying on the road at around 8:40 p.m.
Authorities stated that the man was struck by a car that fled the scene. The off-duty officer immediately contacted emergency medical services, and the man was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The CHP is leading the investigation, which is still being carried out. Those with information contributing to the investigation are encouraged to contact local authorities.
