Two people were hospitalized after a crash involving a car and a semi-truck sparked a fire in Fairfield on Tuesday afternoon, September 3, 2024.

According to the Fairfield Fire Department, the crash occurred along Peabody Road near Vanden Road, causing the semi to knock down power lines. The fire spread to burn 30 acres before being contained.

More than 9,200 residents across Vacaville, Fairfield, and Dixon lost power, with Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) reporting restoration by 5:15 p.m.

Both individuals involved in the crash sustained minor injuries and were transported to a hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. There is no additional information immediately available.
