[09-03-2024] San Diego County, CA – Man Hospitalized After Electric Scooter Crash on Mission Gorge Road

A 39-year-old man riding an electric scooter was hospitalized with serious injuries after colliding with a vehicle in San Diego‘s Grantville neighborhood on Tuesday afternoon, September 3, 2024.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the crash occurred around 3:40 p.m. on the east sidewalk of 6000 Mission Gorge Road.

The man was traveling southbound on the sidewalk when his scooter struck the front passenger bumper of an Acura MDX driven by a 65-year-old woman exiting a nearby parking lot.

The rider suffered an open fracture to his left tibia/fibula, but his injuries were not considered life-threatening. The driver of the Acura was unharmed.

The SDPD Traffic Division is currently investigating the incident. No additional information is available at this time.
