According to the Palm Springs Police Department, the authorities responded to the crash that occurred on North Gene Autry Trail at the wash around 3:00 p.m.

The thick road dust caused poor visibility, resulting in a pickup truck slamming into the back of a sedan as it slowed down. Afterward, both cars collided with an opposite-direction car.

Authorities stated that all three people inside the sedan were killed, and an unspecified number of people in the other cars received varying degrees of minor to moderate injuries.

The identities of those involved were not released. Officials said severe sand was kicking up in the area due to high winds, which caused the crash.

Neither drugs nor alcohol are suspected of being responsible for the accident, with the police still investigating.
