[09-01-2026] Sacramento County, CA – Multi-Vehicle Crash Blocks I-80 Lanes

A multi-vehicle crash blocked lanes on Interstate 80 and caused significant traffic delays in Sacramento on Tuesday morning, September 1, 2026.

According to California Highway Patrol traffic logs, the collision was reported shortly before 5:50 a.m. on the westbound I-80, just west of Madison Avenue.

Initial reports indicated that as many as three vehicles may have been involved in the collision. 

As of approximately 6:20 a.m., the HOV and No. 1 lanes remained blocked. Caltrans traffic cameras showed congestion extending through the Foothill Farms area.

CHP appeared to have issued a SigAlert due to the expected traffic delays. No estimated time for reopening the affected lanes was immediately available.

Information regarding possible injuries from the collision was not immediately available. The investigation is ongoing.
