A motorcyclist was killed and three others were injured after a head-on collision on US 395 near Highway 70 in Plumas County on Sunday morning, September 1, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 10:00 a.m. when an 18-year-old driver, Natalie J. of Reno, attempted to pass a slower vehicle over solid double yellow lines. The Ford F-150 crossed into the path of a motorcycle, resulting in a head-on collision.

The rider and passenger, a couple from Pitt Meadows, British Columbia, were ejected from the motorcycle and taken to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno. The male rider later died from his injuries, while the female passenger remains in serious condition.

The driver and passenger of the Ford F-150 sustained minor injuries, and authorities indicated that DUI was not a factor in the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
