A pedestrian in a wheelchair was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Lily Ann Way near Hayes Avenue in San Jose early Sunday morning, August 31, 2025.
According to San Jose Police, the crash occurred around 2:34 a.m. Preliminary investigation shows a 2017 silver Mercedes sedan, driven by an unidentified man, was traveling northbound on Lily Ann Way when it struck the pedestrian on the north curb of Hayes Avenue. The vehicle then crashed into an iron fence. The pedestrian was transported to a hospital, where he later died.
The driver initially fled the scene but was located minutes later at a nearby home. He was taken into custody and booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and manslaughter, among other charges.
Authorities continue to investigate the collision.
