[08-29-2026] San Diego County, CA – 65-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in Escondido

A 65-year-old pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Escondido on Saturday night, August 29, 2026.

According to the Escondido Police Department, an officer responding to a 911 call shortly before 10:30 p.m. found the man gravely injured in the roadway at Escondido Boulevard and West El Norte Parkway.

Paramedics transported the pedestrian to Palomar Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity pending notification of his family.

Investigators determined that the man had been struck by a vehicle and that the driver had left the scene following the collision.

Additional information about the vehicle or driver involved was not immediately available.
