[08-27-2026] Fresno County, CA – One Killed, Another Injured in Highway 198 Crash Near Coalinga.webpOne person was killed, and another suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 198 near Coalinga in Fresno County on Thursday, August 27, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred on Highway 198 west of Parsons Road.

Witnesses told CHP that a man driving a white Dodge Ram was traveling approximately 70 to 75 mph while attempting to pass two vehicles when he lost control. The pickup crossed the roadway and struck a Ford F-450 parked on the south shoulder.

The Dodge Ram driver suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Coalinga Regional Medical Center, where he later died. Authorities have not yet released his identity.

A man who was in the parked Ford F-450 was also transported to Coalinga Regional Medical Center with minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

CHP said drugs and/or alcohol are believed to have been a factor in the collision.

The investigation remains ongoing.
