A woman was killed after being struck by a cyclist suspected of DUI in San Jose on Wednesday evening, August 27, 2025.
According to San Jose Police, the crash occurred around 7:13 p.m. on Ocala Avenue near Berona Way.
The victim, a woman jogging westbound in the westbound bike lane, was struck by a man riding a blue 16-speed Centurion bicycle. Both the cyclist and pedestrian were traveling west in the same bike lane at the time of the collision.
The woman was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died. Police confirmed that the cyclist remained at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of DUI on a bicycle, causing injury, and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
