[08-25-2026] Alameda County, CA – Box Truck Crash Causes Fuel Spill on I-80 in Oakland

A collision involving a box truck and a Tesla caused a fuel spill and significant traffic delays on Interstate 80 in Oakland early Tuesday morning, August 25, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 2:40 a.m. on the westbound I-80 at the MacArthur Maze connection to Interstates 580 and 880.

The box truck sustained significant damage, and authorities reported that gas or oil from the crash entered a storm drain.

All lanes were initially stopped before one lane was reopened to traffic. CHP issued a SigAlert, with the Nos. 2 and 3 lanes remaining closed while crews worked at the scene.

By approximately 7 a.m., the two right lanes remained unavailable, and westbound traffic was reportedly backed up as far as El Cerrito.
