A 59-year-old woman and her dog were killed after being struck by a vehicle in Novato on Monday night, August 24, 2026.
According to the Novato Police Department, officers responded to the incident at around 9 p.m. near Novato Boulevard and St. Paul Circle.
Police said the woman was crossing Novato Boulevard with her dog when an eastbound sedan driven by an 18-year-old man struck them.
Paramedics transported the woman to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries despite lifesaving efforts. Her dog also died. Authorities have not released the woman’s identity pending notification of her family.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said impairment did not appear to be a factor in the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
