A man was killed, and two women sustained injuries in a two-vehicle crash in the Alamitos Heights area of Long Beach on Saturday night, August 22, 2026.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the collision occurred around 10:35 p.m. in the 5700 block of Pacific Coast Highway near Bellflower Boulevard.
Police said a 2026 Tesla was traveling westbound on Pacific Coast Highway at a high rate of speed when it collided with a 2025 Volkswagen exiting a shopping center. The Tesla then went over a curb and struck a cinder block wall, causing additional damage to several parked vehicles. The Volkswagen struck a sign.
The Tesla driver was transported to a hospital, where he died from his injuries. Authorities have not released his identity pending notification of next of kin.
The Volkswagen’s 48-year-old female driver and 43-year-old female passenger were also transported to hospitals. Their conditions were not immediately available.
Police said speed and impaired driving appear to have contributed to the collision.
The Long Beach Police Department continues to investigate the fatal crash.
