[08-21-2026] San Diego County, CA – Driver Arrested After Hit-and-Run Crash on SR-76 Near Fallbrook.webpA driver was arrested following a two-vehicle hit-and-run crash on State Route 76 near Fallbrook, San Diego County, on Friday night, August 21, 2026.

According to California Highway Patrol incident logs and reports from the scene, the collision occurred shortly before 8:40 p.m. near Olive Hill Road and involved a gray Audi and a white Ford Transit van.

Witnesses reported that the Audi was traveling at a high rate of speed before the collision and nearly struck a motorcyclist. The Audi driver allegedly left the scene after the crash, and the vehicle was later found abandoned near Peppertree Park at Sterling Bridge and South Mission Road.

Authorities subsequently located the suspected driver near the Los Jilgueros Preserve area. Additional law enforcement personnel responded before the individual was taken into custody by CHP.

The driver was reportedly arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and driving under the influence. The suspect’s identity and final charges were not immediately available.

Medical personnel were dispatched following the collision, but information regarding possible injuries was not immediately available.
