[08-21-2024] Bakery Employee Hospitalized After Arm Trapped in Equipment in Santa RosaA bakery employee was rushed to the hospital after his arm became trapped in a piece of equipment in Santa Rosa on Wednesday afternoon, August 21, 2024.

According to the Santa Rosa Fire Department, the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. at Franco American Bakery, located at 202 W. Seventh Street.

The employee’s arm was caught in the gears of an overhead proofer, a machine used to boost yeast. Firefighters were required to dismantle the machine to free the employee’s arm, which was being crushed.

Fire Marshal Paul Lowenthal confirmed that the employee’s arm remained intact. The worker was taken to Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Fifteen firefighters responded to the scene. Investigating agencies, including the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health, have been notified, and further investigations into the incident are expected.
