A stranded motorist was struck and seriously injured by a vehicle after a hit-and-run crash in Hayward on Sunday night, August 18, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on southbound Interstate 880 near the Interstate 238 southbound exit. The victim, who was standing on the right shoulder outside their disabled vehicle, was hit by an unknown vehicle.
The driver fled the scene without stopping. The victim suffered major injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
The CHP is asking for the public’s help in locating the driver involved. Anyone with information about the collision is urged to contact the CHP-Hayward office at (510) 489-1500.
