Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash that sparked a vegetation fire in Nipomo, San Luis Obispo County, on Sunday morning, August 16, 2026.
According to California Highway Patrol logs, the collision was reported around 11:32 a.m. at Highway 1 and Willow Road.
The vehicles initially blocked the intersection, and callers reported that brush beneath one of the vehicles had caught fire.
Emergency radio traffic indicated that three people were injured. Two sustained moderate injuries, while one suffered minor injuries. Two patients were transported to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria. The third person’s condition was not immediately available.
CHP reported that one of the vehicles, a Honda Accord, sustained major damage to its left side and came to rest approximately 20 feet off the roadway.
Both vehicles were moved out of the roadway by approximately 11:42 a.m. The vegetation fire was contained around 11:47 a.m.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
