[08-15-2026] Monterey County, CA – Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck By Vehicle Near Palo Colorado

A 47-year-old pedestrian, identified as Brian R., died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Highway 1 near Palo Colorado in on Saturday evening, August 15, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol Monterey Area, the incident occurred around 8:23 p.m. on Highway 1.

CHP said a 20-year-old Fresno man was driving a Dodge coupe northbound on Highway 1 while the pedestrian was walking west across the highway. The Dodge struck the pedestrian.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. 

CHP said alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been factors in the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
