[08-13-2024] Driver Killed, Passenger Injured in High-Speed Rollover Crash on Highway 33 in Lost HillsA 52-year-old driver was killed, and a passenger was injured in a high-speed rollover crash in Lost Hills, Kern County on Tuesday afternoon, August 13, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 2:15 p.m. when the 52-year-old man was driving a Honda Accord northbound on Highway 33, just south of Twisselman Road.

CHP reported that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver made an unsafe turn, causing the Honda to leave the roadway and roll over multiple times. The vehicle came to rest in a dirt field east of Highway 33.

Authorities confirmed that the driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. The passenger, a 60-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

CHP stated that alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be factors in the crash. The driver’s identity will be released by the Kern County Coroner’s Office at a later time.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
