A 49-year-old man died in a head-on collision on Highway 74 in Homeland, Riverside County, on Tuesday evening, August 12, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly before 7 p.m. just west of Joppe Avenue.
CHP Officer Mike Lassig said Ambrocio C. of Nuevo was driving a 2010 Lexus IS250 eastbound when, for unknown reasons, he crossed the center divider into westbound lanes and collided head-on with a 2024 Chevrolet Express van. The Lexus then continued northeast and struck a chain link fence.
Both vehicles sustained major front-end damage. Ambrocio, the sole occupant of the Lexus, was pronounced dead at the scene by Riverside County Fire Department paramedics.
The van’s driver and passenger suffered minor injuries and did not require hospitalization. An autopsy for Ambrocio is pending.
The investigation is ongoing.
