A bus driver was injured after a hit-and-run collision in Oakland on early Saturday morning, August 10, 2024.
The Oakland Police Department reported that the incident took place around 2:30 a.m. in the 2000 block of Telegraph Avenue.
Officers and paramedics who arrived at the scene found a bus driver injured. The driver was promptly taken to the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the bus was traveling west on 20th Street through the intersection of 20th Street and Telegraph Avenue when a vehicle heading north on Telegraph Avenue ran a red light. The vehicle struck the bus, causing it to collide with several parked cars.
Following the crash, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene on foot. The OPD is actively searching for the suspect.
The investigation is ongoing.
