According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at about 7:00 a.m. along Highway 108 near J-59.

Initial reports indicated that a sedan, for some reason, drifted into the opposing traffic lane and collided with an oncoming box truck. The crash caused the truck to spill a significant amount of fluid onto the highway, prompting authorities to close the road.

The sedan driver was pronounced dead following the accident. Their name, age, and gender were not immediately available. There is no word yet on whether the truck driver was injured.

CHP set up a detour around the crash site toward Red Hills Road. The highway was anticipated to remain closed until around noon.
