[08-08-2026] Los Angeles County, CA – Car Crash Sparks 40-Acre Brush Fire in Burbank.webpA crash sparked a brush fire that burned approximately 40 acres in Burbank on Saturday afternoon, August 8, 2026.

According to Burbank police, officers responded around 3 p.m. to reports of a crash in the Wildwood Canyon area. The Walnut Fire was reported shortly afterward in the 1500 block of East Walnut Avenue near Harvard Road.

Police said all occupants were able to exit the vehicle safely before it caught fire. The flames then spread from the vehicle to nearby vegetation, prompting a response from the Burbank Fire Department and other regional fire agencies.

Evacuation orders were issued for the DeBell Restaurant and Golf Course and Stough Canyon Nature Center, while Churches Court and Country Club Drive were placed under evacuation warnings. The orders and warnings were later lifted.

The fire burned approximately 40 acres and was reported at 70% containment Saturday evening after firefighters stopped its forward progress. One firefighter sustained minor injuries during the response.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the vehicle crash that sparked the fire.
