[08-02-2026] San Diego County, CA – Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on SR-76 in Oceanside

A woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash on State Route 76 in Oceanside on Sunday night, August 2, 2026.

According to the Oceanside Police Department, the collision occurred around 9:44 p.m. on the eastbound lanes of State Route 76 between Guajome Lake Road and Melrose Drive.

Preliminary investigators determined that the adult woman was in the middle of the roadway when she was struck by an unidentified vehicle.

The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have withheld her identity pending notification of next of kin. The driver fled the scene and has not been identified.

The investigation remains ongoing.
