According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened around 8:20 p.m. near South Sana Fe Avenue and Smilax Road.

The circumstances of the crash remain unclear, but officials stated that it may have been DUI-related and that the two vehicles involved collided head-on.

The number of people affected by the incident was also undisclosed. At least three people were taken to the hospital, but the extent of their injuries was not immediately known. None of the victims were identified.

Other motorists were warned of heavy traffic delays around the area while authorities investigated and cleared the scene.

Currently, no fatalities were reported. Authorities have also yet to announce any arrests.
