A driver was killed, while a passenger was injured following a single-vehicle collision in Long Beach early Thursday morning, August 1, 2024.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the crash happened at about 1:40 a.m. in the area of Studebaker Road and Second Street.
Initial investigation indicated that a 2018 Honda Civic occupied by two women was traveling northbound on Studebaker Road at unsafe speeds when it struck a guardrail. It is said that good Samaritans stopped to assist the two women involved in the crash while waiting for responders to arrive.
The driver of the crashed Honda, later identified as 27-year-old Brianna C. from Norwalk, was pronounced dead at the scene by the responding medical crew.
Meanwhile, her passenger, whose name and age were not released, survived with moderate injuries. She was rushed to a nearby hospital for further medical care.
Currently, the possible involvement of speed and driver impairment is being investigated. Authorities will provide additional details as soon as they become available.
