An 18-year-old woman was killed, while her male passenger was injured following a single-vehicle DUI crash in Walnut Creek early Thursday morning, August 1, 2024.
According to the Walnut Creek Police Department, the fatal crash occurred at about 1:00 a.m. along Ygnacio Valley Road between North Broadway and North Civic Drive.
WCPD stated that a black car occupied by two people was traveling between 60 and 80 mph along Ygnacio Valley Road when, for some reason, it drove over a median before violently hitting a power pole and a nearby tree.
Upon arriving at the scene, police found the severely damaged car flipped on its roof, with the struck power pole down on the street beside it.
The driver of the crashed vehicle, an 18-year-old woman, died after being ejected from the car. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident, said the authorities.
Her passenger, a man, reportedly got out of the wreckage on his own power. He was later transported to the hospital after sustaining serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Preliminary reports suggested that the two occupants of the crashed black car had been drinking before leaving Pittsburg. Further information about the identity of the two people involved was not provided.
Additional details about the deadly crash were not immediately available. Police work is underway.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You
