A motorcyclist was killed following a motorcycle vs. pickup truck crash in Madera Acres, Madera County, on Wednesday morning, July 31, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal accident happened around 4:30 a.m. at the intersection of Road 26 and Mateo Way.
Authorities reported that a man driving a 2021 Ford F-250 pickup was heading southbound on Road 26 at an unknown speed, with a Baodi motorcycle traveling in the same direction behind the truck.
Investigators stated that the pickup truck driver applied his brakes and moved to the right shoulder before attempting a U-turn back onto the roadway. The motorcyclist, also traveling southbound, tried to steer left to avoid the collision but ultimately struck the left side of the truck.
The impact ejected the motorcyclist onto the roadway. Emergency responders transported the motorcyclist to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead two days later, on August 2.
The driver of the pickup truck did not sustain any injuries. None of the parties involved were identified.
The official cause of the accident is still under investigation, with authorities working to gather all necessary evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
