A pedestrian was killed after getting hit by a vehicle in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, July 31, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal accident occurred around 9:14 p.m. along the northbound Harbor (110) Freeway near the Anaheim Street exit in the Wilmington neighborhood.
CHP reported that the pedestrian was on one of the freeway’s middle lanes when they were struck by a white hatchback. Upon arrival, responders assessed the struck pedestrian and pronounced them dead at the scene shortly after.
The victim’s name, age, and gender remain undisclosed pending the notification of next of kin. It is still unclear what they were doing along the freeway lanes at the time of the accident.
Drugs, alcohol, and speeding are currently being examined as possible factors in the deadly crash. The authorities are still actively investigating to determine the official cause.
Four of Harbor Freeway’s northbound lanes and the Anaheim Street exit were closed as a precaution while CHP investigated and cleared the scene.
