Multiple people were injured in a 10-vehicle crash on Highway 101 in San Francisco on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred on the northbound side of Highway 101 just south of Vermont Street.
One of the drivers, identified as an adult female, attempted to flee the scene on foot after the crash.
CHP officials stated that the woman had allegedly assaulted an employee inside a nearby business before driving away in a white Chevy pickup truck and entering the highway. She was reportedly driving recklessly when the crash occurred. CHP officers apprehended her as she tried to escape the scene on foot.
The suspect was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Five or six other individuals were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries or as a precaution.
The San Francisco Police Department is assisting with the investigation, including reports that the suspect may have collided with other vehicles before entering the freeway.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
