[07-29-2024] Los Angeles County, CA – Passenger Injured After Single-Vehicle DUI Crash in Castaic

A passenger was injured after a single-vehicle DUI crash in Castaic, Los Angeles County, on Monday night, July 29, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at about 10:30 p.m. on Ridge Route Road and Luke Hughes Road, south of the Castaic Lake Dam Access.

Upon arrival, officers found a wrecked car approximately 100 feet down an embankment along Lake Hughes Road. It is still unclear how the vehicle ended up there, but CHP reported that its two occupants, a driver and a passenger, got out of the crashed car by themselves.

The passenger, whose name, age, and gender were not provided, sustained unspecified injuries. It was not immediately known if the victim was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities later found out that the driver, a 21-year-old man, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. He was arrested and booked into Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on felony DUI causing injuries.

The DUI suspect is currently being held in the Inmate Reception Center. CHP’s investigation into the accident is underway.
