A 48-year-old female pedestrian was killed after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle in Los Angeles early Monday morning, July 29, 2024.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the fatal crash happened around 1:11 a.m. at the 219 block of West Gage Avenue in the Florence area.

LAPD reported that the suspect vehicle was traveling westbound on Gage Avenue when, for some reason, it struck the woman who was reportedly in the roadway. The driver then fled the scene without rendering assistance to the victim or calling the authorities.

Responding paramedics transported the 48-year-old female pedestrian to the hospital after sustaining serious but undisclosed injuries. She died at the medical facility shortly after, said the LAPD. Apart from the victim’s age, no further information about her identity was disclosed.

Police have yet to release an official description of the suspect vehicle. Currently, the hit-and-run driver is still at large.
