[07-28-2024] Fresno County, CA – One Person Killed Following Two-Vehicle Crash Along Highway 269

One person was killed following a two-vehicle crash near Fresno County on Sunday morning, July 28, 2024. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 8:00 a.m. on Highway 269 near Jayne Avenue. 

Authorities stated that a Toyota Corolla was traveling on the northbound lanes of the highway, approaching Jayne Avenue at an unknown rate of speed. Meanwhile, a Hyundai Accent was heading southbound on the highway and had come to a stop for a posted sign at Jayne Avenue. 

As the Toyota approached the intersection, CHP said that the driver failed to stop for the posted sign and went through the intersection. The Toyota crossed the northbound lane, colliding with the left front of the Hyundai. 

The responding officials said that the Hyundai driver, whose identity was not immediately disclosed, suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. There is no word yet if anyone else was injured. 

Alcohol does not appear as a contributing factor to the incident. The crash remains under investigation.
