According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred just before 8:20 a.m. in the 2700 block of Homedale Street in the Paradise neighborhood.

Police stated that the woman was walking north when a vehicle drove onto the sidewalk and struck her. The driver fled the scene following the collision.

The woman suffered a fractured fibula and a subdural brain hemorrhage. Authorities reported that she is expected to survive.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
