A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle in San Jacinto on Saturday afternoon, July 27, 2024.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the collision happened around 5:10 p.m. at State Street south of Esplanade Avenue.
Authorities stated that a pedestrian, whose name, age, and place of origin were not disclosed, was struck by a white 2015 Chevrolet Camaro on the roadway. Upon their arrival, the victim was found by the officials on the shoulder of the road with severe injuries. Emergency personnel rendered medical aid to the pedestrian, but he was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the pedestrian allegedly fled the scene following the crash. Authorities identified the hit-and-run driver as 33-year-old Darell D. He was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
DUI did not appear to be a factor in the collision. The responding officials are currently investigating the incident.
