A 15-year-old boy was killed after a bicycle vs. vehicle collision in Merced on Thursday night, July 25, 2024. 

According to the Merced Police Department, the crash happened just before 9:00 p.m. at East 21st Street and Calimyrna. 

Police said that a 15-year-old boy was riding a bike on the roadway when he was hit by an unspecified vehicle. The teen suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

A resident near the area told the authorities that the road was a bit darker at night, making it difficult for motorists to see pedestrians crossing or riding a bike. 

It is unknown if the driver of the vehicle that struck the cyclist cooperated with the investigation. Drugs, alcohol, or speeding were being investigated as factors in the crash. 

Further information regarding the incident has yet to be released by the officials.
