A cyclist was injured following a bicycle vs. vehicle hit-and-run crash in Los Angeles on Thursday morning, July 25, 2024.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the collision happened around 8:00 a.m. on Mandeville Canyon Road in the Brentwood neighborhood.
Police said that the driver of a gray pickup truck hit a group of bicyclists and sped down the street. The responding officers were able to find the suspect and started chasing them, but later abandoned the pursuit as the driver was operating their vehicle too dangerously.
The cyclist, identified only as Rufio S., sustained injuries following the crash. During his interview with the authorities, he had a sling over one of his arms.
Meanwhile, the hit-and-run driver, whose name and age were not revealed, was taken into custody in Ventura County. There is no word yet on the official cause of the collision. Drugs and alcohol are being investigated as possible factors in the crash.
No further details were released, and the authorities are gathering all the necessary information to determine the cause of the accident.
