One person was injured following a vehicle vs. big rig collision in Santa Clarita late Sunday night, July 21, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the traffic incident occurred at about 11:47 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 126 and Newhall Ranch Road.
The crash involved a Jeep Cherokee and an unspecified big rig. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the Jeep’s front end wedged under the big rig’s trailer. It is said that responders had to use a hydraulic tool to pry open the wrecked door of the vehicle to free a man.
The man extricated from the wreckage, whose name, age, and place of origin were undisclosed, was taken to the hospital for treatment. His current condition and extent of injury sustained were also unspecified. No word yet on whether anyone from the big rig driver suffered any injuries.
It is still unclear how the crash occurred and who was to blame. The possible involvement of drugs, alcohol, and speeding is currently under investigation.
