A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a delivery truck in San Jose on Saturday afternoon, July 20, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 5:45 p.m. along Highway 87, north of Curtner Avenue.
Authorities stated that a pedestrian, whose name, age, and gender were not disclosed, was in the second lane from the left, trying to move across the northbound lanes from the median. Meanwhile, a UPS delivery truck was traveling on the roadway when it struck the pedestrian.
Emergency personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene. There is no word yet on the identity of the truck driver.
It is unknown what caused the collision, but CHP said the alcohol was not a factor. As of this writing, the fatal crash remains under investigation.
