A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle in south Los Angeles early Saturday morning, July 20, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, they discovered the victim’s body at about 12:41 a.m. at the northbound Harbor (110) Freeway and Florence Avenue in the neighborhood of Vermont Knolls.
Upon arrival, responding CHP officers found a person lying lifelessly in the middle lanes of the freeway. After a while, authorities pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Further information about the deceased victim’s identity was not available at this time.
It is unclear if the driver of the vehicle that fatally struck the pedestrian remained at the scene or not. What the victim was doing along the freeway was also unverified. Drugs, alcohol, and speeding are currently being investigated as possible factors in the crash.
No additional details were immediately available, and the authorities are still examining all the evidence they found to determine the circumstances leading up to the deadly incident.
