One person was killed, and another was injured following a single-vehicle collision in Los Angeles County on Wednesday morning, July 17, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 3:35 a.m. along the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway and the Griffith Park Drive off-ramp.
Authorities stated that a pickup truck was traveling along the freeway when, for unknown reasons, it flipped on its side and then overturned several times before it came to rest on the slow lane. As of this writing, there is no word yet on the cause of the crash.
The total number of people involved remains unclear, but CHP confirmed that one person was pronounced dead at the scene and another sustained unknown injuries. The names, ages, and genders of the victims were not immediately disclosed at this time.
CHP closed the two lanes of the freeway while they investigated the crash.
