A driver was injured after a big rig vs. vehicle collision in Fairfield on Tuesday morning, July 16, 2024.
According to the Fairfield Fire Department, the crash happened shortly before 6:00 a.m. on the westbound side of I-80, near the Suisun Valley Road offramp.
Authorities stated that the major crash involved a big rig and a small red convertible. Upon arrival, the police found the mini convertible trapped at the back of the big rig with significant damage.
Firefighters said that the driver of the small red convertible was able to exit the vehicle with minor injuries. The name, age, and gender of the injured victim were not immediately known. As of this writing, the condition of the driver was not disclosed.
Details on how the collision occurred were not provided. There is no word yet if drugs, alcohol, or speeding played a role.
